While it's no secret that Korean cuisine is absolutely phenomenal, it is in Sweden that I truly discovered how addictive its flavours can be. Indeed, I only ate Swedish meatballs once when in Stockholm and instead tasted (many portions of) Korean delicacies on a few occasions thanks to my boyfriend's extremely talented step-mother- who happens to not only be from Korea, but also cooks like a kitchen goddess (she is gracing our presence and our kitchen in 13 days but who's counting!?). So don't ask me about Swedish restaurants, anytime I am in the area I am far too excited to stay in and watch her cook and do her magic.
This recipe however, I stumbled upon on the good old Internet when looking for ground beef recipes- funny enough (not haha funny), my love was getting sick of my thirty ways to prepare meatballs or bolognese sauces. Huh. So here it is: an original, super easy and astonishingly tasteful ground beef dish that no Nona can slap her name on- ugh what am I saying these ladies could make a garbage can sound appetising.

PS: I will spare you the 'this is perfect week night meal before your kids' soccer practice' because you get it. No need to get to that level of SAHM.
You will need ,
(I never measure anything, but here is what 2 portions + leftovers look like)
Ground beef (1 pound)
Green onions (garnish- I like to say, too many)
Brown sugar (1/4 cup)
Soy sauce (1/4 cup)
Sesame oil (tons, seriously tons)
Sesame seeds (a dash, for garnish)
Brown rice (2 cups- because conscience)
Ground ginger (1 tbsp)
Chili oil (1 tbsp)
Garlic (3 cloves, minced)
Salt and pepper
All you need to do is:
1. Cook the beef in a skillet on medium-high with the garlic and some olive oil until it is no longer pink
2. Whisk all ingredients together in a bowl (who am I kidding, I just throw them in the skillet) and pour over/ mix into the meat
3. Reduce heat to medium-low, let the flavours blend together for a few minutes
4. Serve over cooked rice and add garnish of your choice: sesame seeds, cucumbers and green onions - go crazy! (don't, make it look presentable)
